Journal of Applied Research on Learning http://www.ccl-cca.ca/CCL/Reports/Journal/Journal.htm Site Reviews(0) The journal’s aims
The Journal of Applied Research on Learning (JARL) of the Canadian Council on Learning publishes research that addresses specific, practical problems affecting learning in Canada or applied research of significance to learning in Canada.
With the first issue scheduled for April 2007, JARL will be a refereed, online journal meeting the highest standards of scholarship. JARL will initially be published twice per year and will act as a forum for the exchange of results and ideas from applied research on learning conducted in or of relevance to Canada.
The specific aims of JARL include:
* highlighting examples of quality, applied research on learning, conducted in Canada and/or of interest to the Canadian context, in the various domains of interest to CCL (adult learning, early childhood learning, work and learning, Aboriginal learning, health and learning, structured learning (formal education system, from kindergarten through to post-secondary education), learning in French-language minority settings, literacy, as well as learning discussed and researched in relation to gender, culture, and e-learning);
* making available examples of and discussions about applied research on learning to our key audiences and, specifically, to learning practitioners and researchers, as well as policy-makers;
* acting as a link between learning theory, learning research and learning practice;
* stimulating discussion of ideas about learning; and
* contributing to the development of research capacity in Canada.
JARL will be available through CCL’s website as a free publication containing material in both French and English.
As indicated previously, it is planned that JARL will initially be published twice annually as a summer/fall issue and a winter/spring issue, with the possibility of an additional thematic issue being released as warranted by the availability and quality of materials and/or the occurrence of special events such as conferences and symposia. Our goal is to eventually publish JARL on a quarterly basis and to add various features to our publication, including a reader feedback section, invited research contributions, research reviews and commentaries by guest contributors. (See the publication schedule.)
Initially, each issue of JARL will consist of scholarly articles on a mix of topics falling within the scope of and across CCL’s core themes. It will provide detailed coverage of topics that, while pertaining to examples of applied research on learning, will also offer readers relevant theoretical discussions and act as a catalyst for expanding existing knowledge in specific areas of practice and/or research on learning.
Accepted submissions will be published online and made available as downloadable PDF files. Over time, CCL will build a searchable archive of previously published issues of JARL. Added: Nov 30, 1999 Last Update: Nov 30, 1999 Category: J Hits Out: 39 |
