The Minority Resources Center is the American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) focal point for all issues relating to minority education in community colleges. Its principle roles include: projecting at every opportunity the importance of effective and sensitive minority education programs in our colleges, collecting information on quality programs and disseminating it to the membership, working with other national associations and organizations to strengthen the voice of such efforts to federal managers and policy makers, and taking on action itself and encouraging new initiatives and program innovation throughout the national network of community colleges. The guidebook for the Center is Making Good On Our Promises...Moving Beyond Rhetoric to Action, a report of the AACC Commission to Improve Minority Education. The scope of the Center includes all ethnic and national groups.

Multidisciplinary Methods in Educational Technology Research and Development (2007)   http://justus.randolph.name/methods  Site Reviews(0)
Over the past thirty years, there has been much dialogue, and debate, about the conduct of educational technology research and development. In this brief volume, Justus Randolph helps clarify that dialogue by theoretically and empirically charting the research methods used in the field and provides much practical information on how to conduct educational technology research. Within this text, readers can expect to find answers to the following questions: (a) What are the methodological factors that need to be taken into consideration when designing and conducting educational technology research? (b) What types of research questions do educational technology researchers tend to ask? (c) How do educational technology researchers tend to conduct research? (d) What approaches do they use? What variables do they examine? What types of measures do they use? How do they report their research? (e) How can the state of educational technology research be improved? In addition to answering the questions above, the author, a research methodologist, provides practical information on how to conduct educational technology research--from formulating research questions, to collecting and analyzing data, to writing up the research reports--in each of the major quantitative and qualitative traditions. Unlike other books of this kind, the author addresses some of research approaches used less commonly in educational technology research, but which, nonetheless, have much potential for creating new insights about educational phenomena--approaches such as single-participant research, quantitative content analysis, ethnography, narrative research, phenomenology, and others. Multidisciplinary Methods in Educational Technology Research and Development is an excellent text for educational technology research methods courses, a useful guide for those conducting (or supervising) research, and a rich source of empirical information on the art and science of educational technology research.

Access to French-language education has been a hard-won right for francophones outside of Quebec. While this is now a right enshrined in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and in the Official Languages Act, minority francophone education continues to face important challenges, including the persistent finding that francophones in minority-language contexts are falling behind their majority-language counterparts in literacy proficiency. Mind Tools   http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newISS_01.htm  Site Reviews(0)
Mind Maps are very important techniques for improving the way you take notes. By using Mind Maps you show the structure of the subject and linkages between points, as well as the raw facts contained in normal notes. Mind Maps hold information in a format that your mind will find easy to remember and quick to review. Mind Maps abandon the list format of conventional note taking. They do this in favor of a two-dimensional structure. A good Mind Map shows the 'shape' of the subject, the relative importance of individual points and the way in which one fact relates to other. The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation retained Lang Research to conduct the Meta-Analysis of Post-Secondary Institutional Graduate Surveys. The purpose of the research is to provide estimates of key financial variables related to post-secondary education-funding sources, debt loads, student aid, post-graduation employment and starting salaries. The meta-analysis technique involves a rigorous procedure for finding relevant sources of research data, collecting the data, coding the data to a common metric and analyzing the data. The meta-analysis is conducted separately for universities and community colleges. In total, we received information about the graduates from 47 universities and 106 community colleges across Canada.
