Canadian Committee of Graduate Students in Education   http://www.csse.ca/CCGSE/home.htm  Site Reviews(2)
Welcome to our website. Within the umbrella of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE), we work to facilitate communication, research collaboration, and networking among like-minded students. We are a voluntary group of Canadian and international students, engaged in MA, MEd, PhD, or EdD programs. We represent Canada’s First Nations, over 30 Canadian universities, and both of Canada’s official languages. The CSSE annual conference is a unique Canadian opportunity to meet the researchers whose work you have been reading about, to discover new perspectives on your own research, and to savour a truly substantial intellectual feast. As part of the conference, CCGSE hosts roundtables, poster sessions and professional development seminars for graduate students. We are also encouraged to submit proposals to the CSSE Associations and SIGS (special interest groups) located at http://csse.ca/Assoc/Assoc.htm. Many distinguished and junior faculty members kindly volunteer to serve as Discussants at these sessions. The Conference Call for Proposals will be circulated on line to CSSE members and in the Fall issue of CSSE’s Canadian Journal of Education. The CCGSE listserv is an opportunity for graduate students across Canada to share papers, ideas, problems, and solutions related to our professional development.

Challenges in Canadian Post-secondary Education   http://www.ccl-cca.ca/CCL/Reports/PostSecondaryEducation/PSEHome/PSEChallengesMonograph2.html  Site Reviews(1)
Canadian students are increasingly taking non-linear pathways through post-secondary education (PSE). However, the structures of post-secondary systems in our provinces and territories, and the various mechanisms that bind them, do not always provide clearly apparent and unobstructed pathways for students, particularly for mobile students.

Councils of Ministers of Education   http://www.cmec.ca/Pages/Default.aspx  Site Reviews(1)
In April 2008, CMEC released a bold new vision to address the education needs and aspirations of Canadians. Learn Canada 2020, a joint ministerial statement, underscores provincial and territorial responsibility for the four pillars of lifelong learning — early childhood learning and development, elementary and secondary schooling, postsecondary education, and adult learning and skills development — and proposes working collaboratively with key partners and stakeholders to ensure that all Canadians benefit from the strength and diversity of provincial and territorial education systems. Along with the four overarching goals for education in Canada, ministers have identified key activity areas on which they will focus collaboratively through CMEC. Click below for more information.

Georgian College Curriculum Handbook   http://staff.georgianc.on.ca/curriculum/  Site Reviews(1)
Introduction Curriculum is defined in many ways—from the set of courses or experiences needed to complete an educational credential, through such particulars as the content of a specific discipline, to the broad college or program mission or purpose statement of what is important for students to learn. The concept of curriculum at Georgian College encompasses elements that relate to: 1. Assuring quality career education that assists individual development and enhances employability accepting responsibility for relevancy, currency, standards, assessment, viability and accountability in programming. 2. Enhancing opportunities for learning that meet the needs of a diverse student population increasing opportunities for educational mobility, and for lifelong learning. 3. Co-operating with our communities, including business and industry, social and other public agencies, and other educational institutions. Georgian College consistently provides quality educational experiences to a diverse student population. A multiplicity of programming addresses the learning needs of its students, prepares them to confidently and competently enter the workplace, and to participate as effective members of their communities, now and in the future. To foster students’ academic development in this challenging setting, Georgian College has adopted a curriculum model that promotes students’ active participation in their educational experience and augments their ability to meet their own career and personal ambitions and needs.
